Jodie Morse

HENDERSON, TX – Henderson ISD has announced that Jodie Morse will take over as principal of Wylie Primary School at the end of the current school year.

Morse, who currently serves as assistant principal at Wylie Elementary, began her career with Henderson ISD in 2008 as a teacher at Northside Intermediate. She later served in teacher support roles at both Henderson Middle School and Henderson High School before moving into campus leadership. For the past four years, she has helped lead Wylie Elementary as assistant principal.

In addition to her public school experience, Morse also spent several years as the director of a daycare center. That background, along with her deep understanding of child development, played a key role in her selection for this new position.

“Her experience working with students at every level, along with her strong background in early childhood education, made her the right choice for this role,” said HISD Superintendent Brian Bowman. “Mrs. Morse’s leadership will be especially valuable as we continue our district-wide focus on building strong literacy foundations beginning in the earliest grades.”

Morse said she is honored by the opportunity and excited for what lies ahead.

“Wylie Primary is where so much of a student’s journey begins,” Morse said. “I’m thrilled for the chance to help kids get a strong foundation—one that aligns closely with our elementary school and gives them the best possible chance for long-term success in school.”

She will assume the principal role following the departure of current principal Leslie Bowles, who was recently named principal of Northside Intermediate.

The transition will take place over the coming weeks, with Morse officially stepping into the new position this summer.
