“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” -Dr. Seuss
We had so much fun today!

Big Thanks to Donovan's Landscape and Garden Center for visiting our school and sharing their expertise on plants with our students! Learning about gardening introduces students to fundamental scientific concepts such as photosynthesis, the life cycle of plants, and the role of plants in ecosystems. We loved having Donovan's as a guest just in time to get ready for Spring!

Coming up next week!

Dear HISD Families,
Wylie Primary School will be conducting a required lockdown drill this Wednesday (March 6, 2024). This exercise is a part of our ongoing commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Preparing for all types of emergencies is a responsibility HISD takes very seriously.
Law enforcement officials will also be supporting the exercise to provide expertise and to practice responding to the scene. People driving by may notice an increased police presence outside the buildings during this brief drill.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
HISD Administration

Last week our Kindergarteners showed off their dance moves! Square dancing teaches many skills for our students including teamwork, communication, following directions, and coordination. Thank you to the parents who joined us on the dance floor!

Coming up this Friday! This is always the best day for staff and students!

Stay up to date with us and check out our March Newsletter!

February's staff shout-outs have been revealed! Congratulations to Brittany Hardy, Jenni Griffith, Kendall Freeman, Sasha Gaskill, Lauren Weaver, and Jill Cortes for "Taking Charge and Being Bold"

🐝🍯🌻 What a buzz-worthy day! 🌟 We want to extend a HUGE thank you to Kirsten Ruyter and her daughter, River, for buzzing by and sharing their knowledge about bees with our Kindergartners! From learning about the important role bees play in pollination to understanding the fascinating honey-making process, our students were absolutely buzzing with excitement!

Thank you to everyone who came out to see us at Camp Read A Lot! We played some games, hung out with our teachers, ate nachos, and shopped at the Book Fair! If you did not get to attend there will be another opportunity for you to get the same resources offered last night at a later date.

This will be coming up next week on Monday evening!

It is SRO (school resource office) appreciation Day! Our Wylie Primary family would not be complete without Officer King! She goes above and beyond every single day to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community. She is every student's best friend and we are so grateful to have her!

Students have a four-day weekend! No school tomorrow and we will welcome everyone back to school on Tuesday, February 20!

Heartfelt thanks to the Wylie Primary School students who've learned Hands-Only CPR during Kids Heart Challenge, earned characters delivering heart-healthy messages, and are spreading awareness through texts, emails, and social media!
Our goal is to raise $1,500 donations so we can help the American Heart Association and earn PE equipment for our school. As of 2/13/2024 we've raised $1,484 donations towards our goal!
